Whilst skydiving and backpacking around Europe may not be possible during lockdown, Radar has compiled a list of fantastic opportunities for your stay-at-home lockdown goals.

Learn a language
While we may be unable to travel during the pandemic, that doesn’t mean you can’t learn a language. There are lots of fantastic language-learning apps, such as Duolingo and Babbel, which allow you to learn different languages in many fun ways. Learning languages is a good way to focus your mind, will look great on your CV and will also come in handy when we are allowed to go on adventures again.
Let your creative side out
From knitting to painting, there is a huge range of creative talents that you could work on this
year. With online courses, books and even social media having tutorials teaching you a
range of skills, use your time wisely to develop a new artistic passion.
Find your inner chef
Whether it’s simply learning a new recipe, completing a recipe book from your favourite chef or going vegan for the full-year, treat mealtimes as a way to test yourself and work on new skills. Cooking requires patience, time-management and also innovation, key skills which employers tend to look for. Not only are you learning great new skills but you will also get a delicious treat in the end!
Focus on your fitness
As we all spend more time indoors, it’s not a surprise that we have become couch potatoes.
Exercising is extremely beneficial, both mentally and physically. There are a number of ways to incorporate exercise into your daily life, by going for a walk after university (always take safety precautions when going out for a walk alone, especially at night) or by doing half an hour of yoga every morning. RGU Sport is also on hand to help the RGU community stay on top of their physical health, either message them on social media or visit their website for more information. Time at home should not been seen as something to dread.
Whilst we do our part and help protect lives, lockdown can give us the opportunity to improve on areas that we never had time to work on before. Whether you channel your inner Vincent Van Gogh or Nigella Lawson, make the most of your new stay-at home lifestyle.
