With lockdown increasing feelings of stress and anxiety, self care has never been more important. A great way to detox from negativity is by having a home pampering day.

Luxury Toiletries

When we say luxury we don’t necessarily mean expensive. In our day-to-day hygiene rituals we often have products that we usually use, choosing convenience over self-indulgence. However, for a spa day treat yourself. If you’ve been given a bath set or perhaps there is one you’ve always been keen to try, use it. Take time to enjoy it rather than the normal rush to get ready.

Fluffy Dressing Gown

There’s nothing cosier than a fluffy dressing gown. Once finished with your bath/shower pop one on and get ready for the next step in this luxurious home spa treat.

Face Mask

When picking our face mask you need to make sure it is the most appropriate for your skin type, so you are able to see the best results. There are lots of face masks available, from ones to help deal with acne to dryness. Whilst you can have a scan around in the shops, there also ones available online which may be able to give you more detail about how they can best help.

Moisturizer

Once you’ve removed your face mask, the next step is to moisturize. Use an all-over body moisturizer as well as a facial moisturizer. This step is especially important in the colder months as our skin can tend to feel very dry. Again, there are many different types of moisturizer so do make sure to select ones that you think would be the most beneficial.

Playlist

To truly relax and enjoy your spa day make, or find, a chilled-back playlist. There are many playlists available online that will allow you to relax. From acoustic chill to purely classical, choose one that you would most enjoy.

Hopefully you use these home spa essentials to have a truly well-deserved pampering day. Self care is vitally important to help keep on top of your mental (and physical health). If, however, you are struggling with your mental health please reach out to support services. If you are part of the Robert Gordon University community then there are numerous support resources such as the counselling team, RGU:Peer Support and RGU:Nightline.

Even though we are separated does not mean you are on your own.
