In this article we look at how to change your room into a woodland wonderland. During lockdown it’s important to keep changing your space, to try and escape that Groundhog Day feeling. Decorating your space will help with your mental health, and is also a fun activity to take part in.

Brushed Cotton Bedding

For bedding use woodland-themed colour schemes; red, purple, green and navy.

Many shops have duvet covers and sheets with options featuring hedgehogs and deer; perfect for a woodland wonderland.

Woodland Wreaths

You can make the wreaths yourself using online tutorials (YouTube has some very good ones) or buy them. If looking to buy a wreath go for an artificial one as this can be used for years to come. Place on your front door or, alternatively, on your bedroom door. If you are unable to do this, prop it on your windowsill.

Pine Cones

Go for a forest walk and pick up some pine cones. Then when you get home grab some paints and glitter if you want to decorate them. Attach the pine cones to string using a hot glue gun and hang like bunting.

Framed Leaves

Autumn leaves are famous for their beauty. They have such vibrant colours that often you will find yourself stopping just to marvel at them. During a walk pick up a few leaves that pop out to you. Then when back home press the leaves and arrange as a collage in a frame.

Go for a frame that has a red or green border if possible, or paint a wooden frame with these colours. This will enhance the colours of the leaves and bring out the woodland-theme of your new room. You could even hang some fairy lights around the frame to create a warm glow in your room.

Forest Candles

Candles look really nice and you can often get ones with a forest scent. Be careful at all times with candles and follow fire safety advice. If you don’t want to use an actual candle, you can get fake ones that are battery-operated in all different colours and styles. Then to create the scent just use a room spray!
